Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!

Wow it's been such a long time since I've been able to post on here!! I've really missed it! I've just not been able to even do any challenges or post! My husband and I went down to Alabama to surprise my mother for Mother's Day. We stayed there for a few days and then stopped at our son's house in Kentucky for a few days.

While we were gone, our precious 10 year old dog, Cati,  had gotten sick. We took her to the vet when we got home, but there wasn't anything that they could do. Her kidneys had shut down.

We ended up having to put her to sleep. I have had a hard time dealing with that!
I can't believe how much we love our pets and how they are almost like our children!

Well hopefully I can get back to some challenges and start posting again.

Tuesday

I can't believe how yukky the weather has been the last few days!! In the 30's, rainy, stormy and just downright miserable! What happened to spring? Sunday is Easter and I hope it gets better by then.

Today I made something that I've not tried before. The Cricut Cardz Challenge #70 was to use a cupcake holder or wrapper. I don't make cupcakes and I've never tried to make any of the holders or wrappers for them. I'm also entering this in the Challenge Me Monday #56 "Do the bunny hop" challenge.

This is what I came up with.
The wrapper is cut from the Cindy Lou Cartridge at 3.2" on page 73. Since it didn't have a bottom, I cut a scalloped circle shadow at 3.5" on page 71. I taped it to the wrapper.
I then cut a bunny from the Simply Charmed Cartridge at 4". I used my Gypsy to hide the cuts on the face and used a Peachy Keen stamp for the face.
I made a sign and printed my sentiment on the computer. I taped the bunny to a drinking straw and taped the straw to the inside of the wrapper.
I filled the wrapper with Easter grass and jelly beans. For not sure of what I was doing, I think it came out cute.

Sunday

Hello, everyone! Well today I just made a simple card. It's going to be entered into two challenges. Paper Cutz Challenge #87 and Birthday Sundaes Challenge #5.

The Paper Cutz Challenge is to use buttons and bows. The Birthday Sundaes Challenge is "anything goes".
Here is the card I made:
There aren't any Cricut cuts on this card.(shock!!) lol  The card base is Bazzill Basics cut at 4.25 x 5.5". The background paper is from DCWV Animal Crackers matstack.
The flowers are white flowers I had. I used Distress Ink-Faded Jeans to color them.

The tag is one from a pack I got at my local craft store. The button is from my stash. The ribbon is from Michael's.

I printed the sentiment on my computer using the Minya Nouvelle font. Pretty simple, but I think it came out nice.

Cow and "udder or moo"

Hello, Everyone! Hope you are having a great day and a nice start to the weekend.

Today was a really fun challenge! The challenge was Tacky Tuesday's Challenge #5.
This weeks challenge was to use a cow cut from any cart, also need to use either the word "moo" or the word "udder" somewhere in the sentiment on you card or layout.

This is my card:
I love how it came out!! The card is 5 x 6.5".
The barn was cut from the My World Cartridge at 7". I had to make it huge so my cows were in perspective. haha Now that was huge! I used the Branches Cuddlebug embossing folder to make the siding. I used Colorbox chalk to make it look weathered.

The Mama cow was cut from From My Kitchen Cartridge at 3" and the baby cow was cut from Create a Critter Cartridge at 1.75".

I cut off his udders and horns to make him look young.

The sentiment was printed on my computer on a tag I cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More. I had to adjust the size on my Gypsy to 5 x .75". I mounted it with brads that I had.
Hope you like it!!

Sing You A Song/ New Arrival

Hello! Sun shining, birds singing, and buds popping out on the trees!! Woo Hoo! I do believe spring really has sprung! I'm a little upset, though. The squirrels have nibbled on my hyacinths!! (Grrrr)  They are my FAVORITE spring flower and I only have a couple in the flower bed.

Today I made a card that is for two challenges...
and

Here is what I came up with:
Card recipe:
Paper- Bazzill and Coredinations
and other cardstock
Cricut cartridges- New Arrival

Twinkle Toes
Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More
Cuddlebug folder- Tiny Bubbles

I cut the frame from Gypsy Wanderings at 4". I cut the baby carriage and shadow at 3" from the New Arrival Cart. I embossed the top with the Cuddlebug.

The tag had to be adjusted using my Gypsy to fit the card. ( 3.5 x 1")
I distressed it all using Distress Ink. The sentiment was printed on my computer. The musical notes are cut from the Twinkle Toes at 1".

Bunnies, Bunnies, Bunnies

Bunny challenges!
Hippity Hop Bunny Challenge, and   Paper Cutz Challenge #86

This card is 5 x 6.5". The background paper is from Nana's Kitchen matstack from DCWV. The striped paper is from a pack from Scrappy Cat. The cardstock is from my scrap bin. The die cut is from Gypsy Wanderings. It is a tag on shift key. It is cut at 4".
I used a border embossing folder from PC (don't remember the name) along the left side of the paper.

The bunny was embossed with a swirl embossing folder from Sizzix. The scalloped ovals are from Storybook cart. cut at 2, 1.7, and 1.5".
I love the colors!! For some reason green seems to be the color that I gravitate to for anything spring.....

Mother's Day Card

Bitten by the Bug 2 has a challenge this week for Mothers Day 2010. We are to use any of the "Mother" sayings on that cart. or any of the other cartridges.
I don't have the Mothers Day cart., but I used the "Mom" from the Beyond Birthdays cart.

I had to make it taller and narrower to fit where I wanted it, so I used my Gypsy to adjust it. It was 1.3" tall and 2.3 " wide. I shadowed it with white and then put Stickles on it.

I made a gate fold card. I cut two pieces of printed paper 1 7/8 x 5 1/4" and glued them to the front. I cut a piece of blue cardstock at 3.5 x 2.5" and a piece of pink cardstock at 3.25 x 2.25". I embossed the pink paper with the Birds and Swirls embossing folder. I glue them together and then put a ribbon (from local craft store) around it and I glued them to the left side of the card. I took 5 little white flowers and inked three of them with pink Color Box chalk. I put them on the right side with a brad to hold my card closed.

I punched out two butterflies from a MS punch and glued the centers together. I glued it onto a butterfly on the paper. I used Stickles on the wings.
I added a rhinestone flower to the center of one of the flowers on the bottom right.
The sentiment on the inside was printed on my computer.

April Showers

April Showers
I entered this card into two challenges for April Showers. Cooking With Cricut and Challenge Me Monday #54
This is a 4.25 x 5.5" card. The umbrella is from the Create-a-Critter cart. cut at 2". The scalloped oval is from the Storybook cart. cut at 2". The frame is one I had in my stash from another project, but I can't remember the details. I embossed it with a new embossing folder from Darice called Scrolls. The flowers are from my stash. The printed paper is from a paper pack I got at Michael's. The cardstock base is from a pack I bought at my local craft store. I inked around the frame, oval, and umbrella.

Throwback Thursday Challenge 179

***This is a "CRICUT-LESS" challenge! You can use punches but NO CRICUT!;)
***Create a CARD using the sketch provided
Here is the sketch!

This is the card that I made.
The card base is a blank card- 5 x 6.5". I used paper from Hot Off The Press. The paper had a ribbon border, so I thought it would be perfect for the sketch. I used Medallion Dazzles Stickers from Hot Off The Press.

I backed the large medallion, the small medallion, and 2 heart stickers with purple paper and then cut them out.

I put the border sticker on the ribbon border and then added the smaller medallion on that. I glued one of the hearts on the top.

I cut out the a strip of purple paper and matted my sentiment. The ribbon is from Michael's. I think it is very elegant.

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #3

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #3.
I had fun making this birthday card for my oldest grandson! He is turning 23 and "thinks" that he knows it all!! :) This just fits him so well.
The owl is from the Paisley Cricut Cartridge. I cut it out at 3.5". The paper is from Bazzill Basics and from my leftover pieces in my scrap bin. The card base is from a Michael's pack.
I wrote the sentiment with a white gelly roll pen. It's not really very complicated, but I think it gets the point across!! haha

Another Challenge Card

I think this card turned out pretty. I started out to make 2 Easter cards for my grandsons, but somehow I decided I wanted one for an adult.

This is for the Paper Cutz Challenge, Cricut Cardz Challenge, and Creative Sisters Challenge. I love Easter and all the beautiful pastel colors that you see! After a drab winter, I really appreciate color!
On this card I used Bazzill Basics paper and DCWV dots, stripes, & plaids matstack.

For the bunny, I used Gypsy Wanderings and cut her at 3.5".
The tag I used Tags, Bags,Boxes, and More and cut it at1.5", but I altered the length on my Gypsy to make it shorter.

The ribbon and flowers are from my stash. The sentiment was printed on my computer. The card base (6.5 x 5") is from a pack of cards and envelopes from Michael's. I used a white gelly roll pen for the stitching.
